Biography

Bill Anderson got his start in television as a writer during the Eighties, working on single dramas like Nailed and Big Time. He began directing his own scripts in the early Nineties; these projects included the movie Creatures Of Light and the telefilm Guardians. By the latter part of the decade, Anderson was primarily focussing on his career as a director, counting Melissa and The Lakes amongst his credits. After the turn of the century, he made episodes of programmes such as Spooks, Lewis and Silent Witness, alongside telefilms like Boudica. During the 2010s, Anderson directed for shows including Taggart, Case Histories, The Mill and Mr Selfridge. He handled two 2017 episodes of Doctor Who, with Peter Capaldi's Twelfth Doctor finding adventure on the frozen Thames in the historical Thin Ice, and in a spooky house rented by companion Bill in Knock Knock. After a hiatus, the Twenties saw Anderson return to Silent Witness.
