London-born Charles Martin began his career with a critically-acclaimed episode of The Giblet Boys in 2005, and followed it in 2007 with several installments of My Life As A Popat. The same year, he made two serials for the Doctor Who spin-off The Sarah Jane Adventures, including The Lost Boy, the finale of its inaugural season. Moving away from children's programming, Martin worked on Skins and then shows like Being Human, Married Single Other, New Worlds and Marcella. His first movie was the 2017 thriller Ji zhi zhui ji (given the English title SMART Chase) which starred Orlando Bloom. During the Twenties, Martin directed for programmes such as For Life and His Dark Materials.
