As she entered her teens, Ellis George's mother suggested that she enrol in drama classes. This led her to join the Young and Talented Stage School in London, and later the British National Youth Theatre. George initially trained in singing and dancing as well as acting, but she eventually came to focus on the latter. Having obtained an agent, her first exposure to television was via commercials. George was then cast as schoolgirl Courtney Woods in four episodes of Doctor Who's 2014 season, which starred Peter Capaldi as the Twelfth Doctor. Courtney had only a peripheral involvement in the year's first two installments -- Deep Breath and Into The Dalek -- but she featured more prominently mid-season, playing a pivotal role in both The Caretaker and Kill The Moon. It would not be until the Twenties that George would return to television, with parts in Small Axe and Grace. She also appeared in several short films.
