Biography

Jamie Payne began his career as a director with work on short films in the late Nineties. Early television projects followed after the turn of the century, including episodes of The Bill, At Home With The Braithwaites, Primeval and the reboot of Survivors. During the 2010s, Payne initially worked on shows like Ashes To Ashes and Call The Midwife. Instead, Payne's first opportunity to work with Matt Smith's Eleventh Doctor came on 2013's Hide. He returned later that year for the Christmas special, The Time Of The Doctor, which saw the Doctor's regeneration into a new incarnation played by Peter Capaldi.

Payne's subequent work during the decade included episodes of The Bletchley Circus, New Amsterdam and Luther. He also filled dual roles as both director and either producer or executive producer on several projects, such as Legends, The White Princess and The Alienist. During the Twenties, Payne directed for programmes like Outlander and Invasion.
