Kate Herron

Biography

Raised in London, Kate Herron studied film production at the University for the Creative Arts in Farnham, Surrey. From 2010, she began writing and directing short films; they included Smear, which she co-wrote with Briony Redman. In 2017, Herron moved into television as the director of Five By Five with Idris Elba. Her next directorial projects included four episodes of Sex Education -- the comedy-drama which co-starred the future Fifteenth Doctor, Ncuti Gatwa -- plus an installment of Daybreak. In 2021, Herron was an executive producer on the Marvel Cinematic Universe tie-in Loki, for which she also directed the six-part first season. She and Redman partnered to write a story for the 2022 comic book anthology Skybound Presents Afterschool. They have also collaborated on a Doctor Who adventure for Gatwa's Doctor, which will air in 2024.
