Biography

Originally an actor, Michael Hart completed the BBC's directors' training course in 1964. During the second half of the Sixties, he worked on programmes such as Compact, Softly Softly, The Newcomers, and the first of more than twenty installments of Thirty-Minute Theatre. Hart made his only Doctor Who serial in 1969: Patrick Troughton's penultimate adventure, The Space Pirates. Hart's career continued into the Seventies, when he directed for shows like Z Cars, The Doctors, Owen, MD, and dozens of episodes of Crossroads. He died on February 21st, 2012. His brother was the celebrated artist Tony Hart, who appeared on many BBC programmes over several decades.
