Biography

Sophie Hopkins was born in Singapore, and raised in the East Yorkshire Wolds. She studied performing arts at York College, from which she graduated in 2009, and then trained in London with the Identity School of Acting and the Fourth Monkey Theatre Company. Hopkins' earliest television credits came in 2011, on the documentary miniseries Dark Matters: Twisted But True. She also appeared in Britain's Secret Homes and a number of short films. Hopkins' first dramatic television role was as April MacLean, a girl with an unwanted connection to the monstrous Shadow Kin, on the 2016 Doctor Who spin-off series Class. Beginning in 2018, she reprised April for the range of Class audio dramas from Big Finish Productions; she could separately be heard in the company's 2019 release The Lives Of Captain Jack: Volume Two, starring John Barrowman as sometimes-companion Jack Harkness. Hopkins would go on to appear in programmes such as Doctors and Wolfe.
